Catch up time!! (at least part way)

We are now comfortably ensconced in our first ever Workamping position, in Cave Country RV Campground - Cave City, KY, so I'm going to start getting y'all caught up on our past month or so.

We arrived at the State Fairgrounds in Sedalia,MO on May the 18th. When we arrived, it had been raining in the area for several weeks, so the parking team leaders had there work cut out for them just getting US parked without getting stuck.

Fortunately, we didn't need to unhook the tow dolly to get into our spot, but if you look close, you can see the deep tire marks in the grass/mud. The big Class A, angled behind IDK actually got stuck where it is for 3 days before it dried enough for him to move it.
The next picture is more of the staff parking area before they all arrived. It was full of staff rigs past the trees on the right. I never did get any pictures of the main attendees campground, as I was too busy to mess with a camera.
Molly Pinner came to visit for a few minutes the last night before we actually started working, and was introduced to Alan. I think he's in love. hee hee
The parking crew all put in orders for dry weather to get everyone coming to the Escapade parked. And we did just that. It was hot and dry from Tuesday through Sunday,(opening day) but we got all parked by 2 PM on Sunday, in time for opening ceremonies at 3 PM.
The parking crew is not responsible for weather - that's my story and I am for sure sticking to it.

We had a number of days with rain during Escapade, sometimes very heavy rain, and it being a Fairgrounds, it got just a little muddy. (ok, very muddy)

During the Escapade, we had a number of chances to get together with the Class of 2007, naturally those gatherings included food. We had a couple of potlucks and one afternoon munchie fest.

Once again this year, we volunteered to help while the Escapade was happening, and neither one of us actually went to a seminar.

We did a couple of evening events, but were just too tired to stay out late enough to do much.

All in all, we had a really great time seeing old friends and meeting new ones at the Escapade and are looking forward to Goshen Indiana in September 2010, for the next Escapade. It's another fairground, so I hope everyone plans for rain and hopes for Sunshine. :-)

To our Class, you guys all travel safe. We already miss you. See you on the road.

Hugs

Paul n Connie

We are making a 2 week trip to yellowstone last of July first of august by way of Badlands and Blackhills. We've researched Crazy Woman Canyon and then happened onto your site, what great pictures and definately is a must see for us. Hope you get a return trip to St. Louis. We spent a week there, Zoo is free, just pay for parking ... Budweiser Tour has some nice architecture, with Clydsdales onsite and a great little dinner and play english pub, North of the Arch callled The Royal Dump. lol Enjoy your adventures.
